Abundant Life Advent Challenge: Day 21

Do you have company coming for Christmas? Here’s your reminder to clean the guest bathroom! Yes, I said clean. If it’s already clean is it time to declutter a bit more? You know under the sink, in drawers, the shower, counters, decor, or the towels you may have missed back on Day 18. Take a few moments today. Twenty-one items may be a stretch, but you can set your timer for twenty-one minutes and refresh the bathroom for your guests.

If you don’t have company coming, you can still tackle this area. I understand you’re busy with holiday chores and shopping lists, but remember to slow down and remember the Reason for the season is why God presented us with this Advent Challenge, to begin with. He wants us to remember Him and to be thankful for this time of year. So often, we zip through it, and feel the stress of miscommunication, long lines, and cranky family members. Don’t let this season go by without giving thanks. As you head to your guest bathroom, be thankful you have one. If you don’t have a dedicated guest bathroom, be thankful for the one bathroom you do have.

As you clean or declutter, talk to God. Let Him know how you’re feeling this close to Christmas. Confess where you’ve taken your eyes off the true meaning of Christmas and ask Him to show you how to regain focus. (Hint: you’re doing it at this moment!)
