Abundant Life Advent Challenge: Day 5

Abundant Life Advent Challenge

How are you doing so far in what a dear friend texted me as #ALAC? She joked that a beautiful yellow dress she gave me recently counted as her Day 1 item. Of course, I’m counting it too! She said it wasn’t a gift. She bought it a while back and it just hung in her laundry room with the tags still on. As she prepared to have dinner with me, she saw it and thought I’d like it and get more use out of it than she had. She’s right! I love it and while she didn’t consider it a gift, I do. I appreciate first that she thought of me, and secondly, that she knows my branding colors include yellow!

Are you counting items and not letting this overwhelm you? Be sure to just count items. Make this as easy as possible. You have enough going on this time of year and keeping it simple will help you in the long-term. Counting the items helps you separate your emotions from the items as well as from the process. And like my dear friend, you may find you have something “useless” in your home that someone else may treasure. Pass it on!

Speaking of knowing me well, you’ll know yellow is my #1 brand color, but you’ll also know I don’t cook. I don’t like to cook so I do as little as possible in this area. This exasperates the issue of the outdated spice rack. Because I don’t cook often, my spices tend to become outdated before they run out. Or I’ll buy one for a specific recipe and then never use it again. Ugh! I’m sure the issues are there for those who love to cook. I’ve seen my oldest daughter’s spice closet. She’s an amazing cook, but her spices need some loving organization.

Let’s tackle today’s area. How’s your spice rack? Grab five items from this area. Not just the neat little rack with the matching jars, but the spices shoved in the pantry or cabinet. Find five that are expired or that you don’t use regularly and toss or donate accordingly.

Participate: Snap pics or do a quick video to show you are in the challenge and then post regularly to hold yourself accountable. #abundantlifeadvent
