Abundant Life Advent Challenge
Do you want to live an abundant life?
The abundant life starts with an unhoarded life.
Read that again.
No, seriously, read it again. The abundant life starts with an unhoarded life.
If you want your life to overflow with blessings and the richness that comes from God, you first need to make room.
You’ve heard the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”
Well, you can’t add to a full cup either. You need to pour out and allow God to refill your cup.
Imagine this coffee drinkers. Your cup stays full, all year every day. You just keep adding to it. Do you think that creamer in the bottom might go rancid at some point? Yuck. I don’t drink coffee and I’m gagging!
You get the picture.
If you’re ready to make room for the abundant life, the fresh blessings, and the newness of God, join me this December in The Abundant Life Advent Challenge! It’s free and freeing!
If you haven’t read “Save the Butter Tubs!: Discover Your Worth in a Disposable World”, now is the time. In this book, I share about the Lies We Buy. The excess we accumulate to numb us and keep us distracted from what we are called to do. Now is the time to declutter and answer the call.
Okay, if that sounds like too much to take on, let’s just focus on decluttering. One item at a time. This challenge is about the numbers, not the things. Not organizing. Not anything but counting the items and parting with them.
For those unaware of the meaning of Advent, it is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. Some traditions celebrate over the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Some and most advent calendars, countdown 24 days. This is the approach we will be taking.
Here’s how it works:
Comment on your preferred social channel, “I’m in!” (Probably, where ever you are seeing this!)
Prep by getting a box, bin, or large trash bag. Post and let us know what you’ll be using with the #abundantlifeadvent
Come back to your preferred social channel for your challenge each day and comment, “Got it.”
Stay accountable by posting pics, videos, or your thoughts in text throughout Advent, and use the #abundantlifeadvent.
Celebrate Christmas!
The Abundant Life Advent Challenge Prep:
Find a large box, bin, or bag and place it where you can access it every day for the next 24 days. Tuck it away in the garage, a closet, or a spare room. Make sure it is large enough to hold a good amount of items because you are about to unhoard your life!
Each day, come back here, and I’ll share your challenge for the day. Don’t worry, it will be simple and you won’t create a mess in the process. At the end of 24 days, your home and heart will be 300 items lighter!
Note: At any point along the way, if you don’t have the number of items you can either do as much as you can in that area and call it good, or go back to a previous area. Just focus on the number of items. Not organizing or creating better systems.
Participate: Snap pics to show you are in the challenge and then post regularly to hold yourself accountable.
